‘Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’ Gamers Can Ghost The Whole Game, Including Bosses
In stealth games, the term “Ghosting” refers to the ability to complete missions or go through the game without raising alarms or being detected. The ability to Ghost is revered by stealth game aficionados, typically used to judge the effort and attention to detail that has gone into a title’s gameplay design. New information from “Deus Ex: Mankind Divided” developer Square Enix indicates hardcore stealth fans will be right at home with the newest entry in the franchise.
In a series of tweets picked up by DualShockers, executive game director at Eidos Montreal, Jean-François Dugas confirmed that gamers of a light-footed persuasion would indeed be able to ghost “Mankind Divided” adding that even the bosses can be tackled this way. Dugas also stated that conversation based boss battles would make a series return, noting that he was personally a big fan of them.
Fans will be especially pleased to hear to hear that so much thought is being given to boss battle designs, especially considering the fact that the game’s predecessor, “Deus Ex: Human Revolution” caught a lot of flack for its lacklustre boss battles. As noted by Gameranx, the much-reviled boss battles were actually outsourced, and design and development was handled by a third party studio called GRIP. Shacknews reports that Eidos Montreal ended up revamping and improving the boss fights for the 2013 directors cut reissue of the game.
Dugas continued to divulge details of the game’s development, stating that most of the team who handled “Deus Ex: Human Revolution” is in place for “Mankind Divided.” He stated that the game would also feature the return of an extreme difficulty mode called “Give me Deus Ex.” Dugas also said that “Mankind Divided” would remain true to “Human Revolution,” but still be different.
“Deus Ex: Mankind Divided” was revealed this week via a beautifully rendered computer-generated trailer. The Outside Xbox YouTube channel has dissected the trailer to reveal a number of interesting powers hinted at by the video. Some of Jensen’s new powers may include his arm mounted directed energy cannon, the ability to remotely control electronics, taser hand, knife launcher, focused energy attacks and triangle nanoshield. “Mankind Divided” will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, no release date has been provided.
