A 70 mph tornado is sweeping across the U.S. putting millions of families in extreme danger. There are already five people ki;;ed in Illinois.

The Midwest suffered severe weather conditions on Sunday Nov. 17 in the afternoon. Tornadoes tore several cities apart as an NFL game was immediately evacuated due to storm. CNN reports that the severe storms killed at least a couple, according to Jonathon Monken, director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.

Mr Monken confirmed that about 70 houses were already destroyed in the storms in two communities. People are trapped in the basements as rescuers are finding it hard to get to them. 37 injured people have been admitted to a hospital in Peoria.

The region was affected by over 60 tornadoes until 5:10 pm, the National Weather Service confirmed. Jim Adis, the mayor of Peoria, has said that the city has plans to send relief to Washington where a densely populated area has been hit by a tornado. He said that the images of the storms showed the severity of the situation.

The Baltimore Ravens and the Chicago Bears were getting ready to play against each other in other of the NFL games while their game was delayed for a couple of hours due to storms. The spectators left the Soldier Field stands immediately to reach a safer area. However, the game resumed once the storm passed as the fans came back. However, the rest of the region is still warned against severe weather conditions.

The "large and extremely dangerous; tornado was spotted about 145 miles (233 km) south-west of Chicago as it was moving north-east. About 53 million people are at the risk of losing it all as severe storms crashed Midwestern states. The tornado has already affected Indiana, Illinois, Gap and Miller City, Ohio border and Kentucky", Metro reports.

There have been reports of roofs being torn off and houses being flattened, confirms Sara Sparkman, a spokesperson of the health department of Tazewell County, Illinois. The entire neighbourhood is demolished by the storm, she said.

Update: Consumers Energy reports over 85,000 customers without power, mostly in Kalamazoo and Kent countie.
