Will Dex kill Debra or will Deb kill Dexter?

Fans do not really want Dexter to end - the world's favourite serial killer who kills serial killers has basically become a dark hero of sorts - and Deb and other goody-two-shoes be damned. So, why, then, is Dexter looking a tad lost and why is the last season concentrating on seemingly insignificant cases like the maid killer? The good news was that Deb and Dexter finally re-teamed as the family that kills together!

But, the question that remains foremost was that will Dexter die - will the character or will the series? Will there be a Dexter spin-off - will Debra be the new Dexter? Sources feel that Showtime bosses were definitely considering a spin-off once season 8 comes to its end - gory or otherwise. And though Jennifer Carpenter said that she begged the bosses to kill off Debra, the spin-off might just be Debra! David Niven has reportedly staved off any rumours saying that they just want to finish Dexter and finish it well, and then think about what comes next.

Needless to say, while the going seems to be a bit slow for the time being, fans are at the edge of their seats already! Perhaps the slowdown was deliberate, a respite from what promises to be a crescendo of blood, gore and the final end.

How Will Dexter End?

Walking out a freeman? Perhaps not. From what was seen of Dexter, the time to pay up was now. And even if he did walk out a free man, Dexter is Dexter, hardly the kind to live a life of peace and serenity.

Would he be behind bars? Again, that's not the Dexter we know. Not the kind of man who would be able to survive behind bars without his freedom.

Would he die? Well, fans hope not, but perhaps there would be an ironical justice to that - from the man, who born in blood, to go in blood was perhaps poetic. Will Debra kill Dexter - since she felt that she killed the wrong person in that trailer? And what will happen to Debra then? Orphaning her nephew?

Would Debra die? And where would that leave Dexter? A man who lost so much to violence - his mother, his adoptive father and then his wife. To lose Debra would perhaps mean to lose his sanity... Or will he simply add Debra to his collection - and paint her as the killer all along and finally and totally give into his dark side?

So many questions, and just one answer - the end is near! The last season of Dexter might just prove to be the best.
