So, however much fans place Dexter on hallowed grounds - he's a serial killer who kills serial killers - Creepy! Here's a list of the creepiest people that Dexter killed!

The Trinity Killer

Tops the list. The Trinity Killer aka Arthur Mitchell aka John Lithgow who played Dick Solomon in the sitcom "3rd Rock from the Sun". So how did this genial and mildly comic actor play genius serial killer with such creepiness that we were glad when Dexter offed him? He killed in threes, or rather fours - first slicing the femoral artery of a young woman in a bathtub and holding a mirror so that she can watch herself bleed to death, then making a young mother commit suicide by jumping off a building and finally bludgeoning a man to death. It's later discovered that he also kidnaps a young boy and then buries him alive in cement as his fourth kill - part of his cycle every time. Why so impactful? Because while Dexter did kill him, Trinity managed to murder Rita first.

The Ice Truck Killer

Blood is not thicker than water, not really. The Ice Truck Killer aka Rudy Cooper aka Brain Moses - Dexter's long lost brother who unlike Dex and his code is a lean-mean killing machine and enjoys doing so. Both brothers watched their mother hacksawed into pieces while she was still alive and both sat in her blood for two days - Harry Morgan rescued Dex and saw something salvageable in him, but in Brian's eye he saw a psychopath. And so Brian and Dexter were separated - a fact that Dexter had successfully blocked in his head. For all the creepiness that Brian had, his love for Dexter is apparent. Dexter kills him in the end - he kills his blood brother to save his adoptive sister - you want Rudy to die and yet there's pathos in the scene.

The Doomsday Killer

Travis Marshall. The man who seems to be under the thumb of the rather sociopathically-painted Professor Gellar is later revealed to be the sole operative of this ingenuous and mad scheme. His killings are innovatively creepy - from putting live snakes in a dead man and sewing him shut to the very graphic and very disturbing scene of the dummy-men riding the horses - by far he was perhaps the most deranged of them all. Dexter finally manages to kill Travis in the end, but not before Travis tried twice to kill Dex. And the last scene of Dex plunging his knife through Travis's chest is a cliffhanger, when Debra walks in and sees Dexter doing so. "Oh God", rightly said Dex!

Lila

One of Dexter's women - and the one who bumps off James Doakes for him - meets with Dexter's knife in the end. Creepy because she's a woman scorned. Lila wants Dex for herself, for them to go out in the world and do as they please - and when Dex refuses to go with her and chooses a life with Rita instead - she's hell-bent on revenge. She manages to kidnap Cody and Astor along with the babysitter and then trapping them inside, sets the house on fire, presumably to let them and Dexter burn. Dexter save them both and in turn sets his murderous sights on Lila - who definitely has killed before. He slips into her apartment and gives her the ultimate insult - his murder of her is quick and hurried as he has to catch a plane - she's undeserving of his time even!

Maria La Guerta

Technically, not creepy. Again technically, not Dexter's kill. But when Debra shoots the rather pesky LaGuerta to save her brother, fans heaved a sigh of relief. This no-holds-barred rather corrupt cop is not shown to be in the best of light at any time - she begins with making out Dex to be a hero, using and abusing Deb and then finally zeroing in on as Dexter to be the real Bay Harbor Butcher. She's loyal to a fault - but perhaps only to herself and Sgt Doakes - whom she never believed to be the Bay Harbor Butcher. So in the season 7 cliffhanger when Deb shoots LaGuerta, it's a bit of anti-climax that everyone liked. Honorary mention to James Doakes too - no a psychopath!

There are more honorable mentions, particularly Miguel, Dex's first "friend" and Mike Donovan - Dexter's first kill - rather Dex's introductory kill for the viewers. Oh and Officer Kruger who killed her husband and daughter to be "free" and then tries to kill Dex when he investigates. Tch, tch - such arrogance!
