The Inglorious Basterds star, Diane Kruger has denied she’s in the running for the upcoming Superman sequel, with British actor Henry Cavill as the officially announced lead actor to play Clark Kent.

The German-born actress, who is now promoting her latest film, Unknown, told MTV News in an interview that there is no truth to the swirling reports she is in talks with the producers.

"They're all false rumors," Kruger said, according to MTV News. "I don't know who launched them but it's not true."

Does that mean Lois Lame is still available?

More female stars have been rumored to take the role as Clark Kent’s love interest. Kristen Stewart of Twilight was also rumored to screen test for the role but as International Business Times reported earlier, K-Stew’s camp told People.com that it too, was just rumors and R-Patz girlfriend has not been in talks for the role.

Aside from Kruger and Stewart, also rumored to take the female lead role are "Sex and the City 2" actress Alice Eve, Rosamund Pike from "An Education" and Diane Kruger from the "National Treasure" series. Other reports named Jessica Biel, Natali Portman and Rachel McAdams as some of the big female stars also reportedly vying for the role.

The production of Superman: Man of Steel is scheduled to begin in summer. It is expected for release in December 2012.
