Brad Pitt has reportedly hinted on Chinese social network Sina Weibo that he was going to visit China. But the Asian country had slammed Pitt with a travel ban for appearing in "Seven Years in Tibet." What could his alleged cryptic status mean?

"It is the truth. Yup, I'm coming," reads the alleged status of the Hollywood A-list actor.

Pitt's Sina Weibo account was supposedly "verified" by the Chinese social network Monday night. By midnight, Pitt's account has drawn more than 154,800 followers. However, his Chinese fans might be disappointed. Pitt's trip to China may not be possible as of this time.

The supposed trip would have just been an ordinary development in Pitt's hectic schedule. As Chanel fashion ambassador, he is expected to travel to promote the Chanel brand. However, Pitt had been banned from entering China in 1997.

By early Tuesday morning, the status has been deleted from Pitt's still-verified account. This changes things among thrilled fans who had been hopeful for the actor's visit. The disappearance of the status has been taken as a sign that Pitt has not yet sorted out some issues with the Chinese government.

In 1997, it was announced by China Daily that Pitt had offended China by appearing in "Seven Years in Tibet," which showed a harsh Chinese governance of Tibet.

Sina Weibo has about 400 million registered users. More than 50,000 users re-posted Pitt's supposed status. Over 24,000 users left comments. These figures - after barely 12 hours - mean Pitt got a lot of attention on Sina Weibo. Could he make his Chinese fans happy by coming for a visit, eventually?
