Channel Seven has delayed airing the final episodes of the seventh season of "How I Met Your Mother" for some unknown reason.

The delay has obviously wrecked the Australian fans' enjoyment in watching the show. Now, actor Jason Segel has reportedly said that he is quitting the show. This news can definitely bring more pain for the fans of the hit TV series "How I Met Your Mother."

"It's great to do some 'rated R' stuff again, because I've been playing the nice guy for quite a long time now. That's why I'm gonna quit 'How I Met Your Mother' after the eighth season," the actor was quoted saying in an Austrian website.

This statement started the circulation of rumors that Segel would definitely be leaving the show. Segel's movie career has successfully taken off since the series started airing back in 2005 with the hit romantic comedy film "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" under his belt. If Segel does leave the show, it would give him enough liberty to pursue more movie projects.

The "How I Met Your Mother" creators are now busily negotiating for a ninth season deal. However, Segel's rumored departure from the show would only cause them major headaches in building a story on how Segel would leave the show for his character, Marshall Eriksen, is now happily married and about to become a proud father.

Meanwhile, E!Online also reports that actress Alyson Hannigan, Segel's co-star and wife on "How I Met Your Mother," is also eager to leave the show. "Jason and Alyson are the two least likely to want to do a season nine. It would take a lot of money to keep them," an insider revealed.

According to Jason Segel's publicist, the rumor is just the result of a simple misunderstanding. "Perhaps something got lost in translation, but season nine hasn't even been addressed yet," the publicist told E!Online. Will Jason Segel really say goodbye to the entire cast and crew of the hit TV show?
