True but not quite. Nicole Kidman explained on Thursday during the Cannes Film Festival about her edgy new character in the movie "Paperboy." It is directed by Lee Daniels who also was responsible for the acclaimed film "Precious."

The Oscar-winning actress told reporters how Daniels initially warmed her about the film's budget. She said that the director balked out to cast huge stars in a low-budget film. But that didn't stop Kidman from wanting to be part of the movie.

"Lee said, 'Look, we've got no money, you're going to have to do your own hair and make-up,'" Kidman said.

"So I actually went into my bathroom and I got out the fake tan and put on fake eyelashes and got a hairpiece thing that was platinum, threw it all on and texted a photo to Lee in all these different provocative positions," the actress said in shocking revelation.

When asked what Daniels' reaction was, she said that it was something she can't tell but it was a thumbs up. Nicole explained that she had been looking for a role that is raw and has some danger in it and the aggressive and sometimes kinky film was what she was looking for.

"I've been looking as an actor for something raw and more dangerous in terms of performances, and then this came along," she confessed. "I may be uncomfortable watching the movie. But that's my job, it's my job to give over to something, not to censor it, not to put my own judgments of how I feel as Nicole playing the character. I am there to portray a truth."

Nicole Kidman stars with Zac Efron, John Cusack and Matthew McConaughey in the movie thriller "Paperboy." Set in the 1960's, Kidman plays a sex-obsessed woman in pursuit of marrying Cusacks' convicted killer.
