Argentina's former soccer player Diego Maradona (R) embraces Argentina Football Association (AFA) President Julio Grondona at AFA's headquarters in Ezeiza, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, in this August 20, 2009 file photo. Grondona, who was FIFA's Vice President, died July 30, 2014 at the age of 82, at a medical centre in Buenos Aires as he was about to undergo heart surgery. Grondona, who has been head of the Argentina FA since 1979, was in charge when Maradona almost single-handedly steered Argentina to World Cup victory in Mexico in 1986. He was also present for the swearing-in ceremony when Maradona became coach of the national team leading up to the South Africa World Cup in 2010. REUTERS

Diego Maradona's reputation as a hothead already precedes him after numerous bouts with authorities and on the field brushes with opponents. From the controversy of his "Hand of God" goal against England in the 1986 World Cup to his firing of a compressed air rifle at reporters outside his past, there is no question that he one of the sports' most genius and controversial, at the same time.

Now long retired, he is still taking the spotlight with questionable behaviour.

According to Telegraph.com, the 1986 Argentina soccer national team captain is thrust centerstage once again as he was filmed slapping a reporter in the face whilst attending an event together with his family during the weekend. The former soccer whiz also hollered the word "idiot" to the journalist's face, in UFC style confrontation outside a theater in Buenos Aires.

Maradona at first happily posed for reporters as he told the crowd that he was just enjoying the affair, Children's Day with his son. Suddenly things turned for the worse when he confronted a reporter who he claimed to wink at his ex-wife. He was also heard saying "Why mess with my wife if I do not mess with you?" before unleashing a right slap across the man's cheek.

The woman smacked in the middle of the controversy is his ex-wife Veronica Ojeda who is also the mother of his child Diego Fernando. This comes as a puzzle as last week the ex-soccer player was pictured with 25-year old head turner Evi Amodeo, firing up speculations that Maradona is again courting a young beauty.

This will not be the first time that Argentina's legendary soccer player has been involved with a younger woman. The last one did not end well as his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend Rocio Oliviawas accused ot taking more than £200,000 from his Dubai mansion.
