Disney's Magic Kingdom (also known as Disneyland) is set to be featured in a new film. Magic Kingdom is Disney's theme park that houses rides like "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Haunted Manson" both of which received movie treatment from Disney, and now the Magic Kingdom itself is set to debut on the big screen.

Variety reports that Battlestar Gallactca's Ronald Moore had already penned a script which features a plot initially taking place inside Disneyland. The script is based on a pitch he made for the project (temporarily called "Magic Kingdom) that Marc Abraham and Eric Newman will produce through their Universal-based Strike Entertainment shingle.

However, Disney and the film producers are keen on developing "Magic Kingdom" with a new scriptwriter. Executives of the company say that the project is a potential platform that could feature Disney characters like Mickey Mouse.

This is Disney's newest strategy to re-introduce its iconic characters to a new generation, by giving them some reel treatment. The treament will be very similar in the way that Fox's "Night in the Museum" films did.

However, the "Magic Kingdom" film is not on Disney's top priority. The studio is keeping itself busy reportedly with a Haunted Mansion movie, set to be directed by Guillermo de Toro and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea adapatation, to be directed by David Fincher.
