Djokovic vows to adopt same attitude in 2010 US Open as he faces Federer in Aussie Open
Serbian ace believes he's ready to get Federer at the semis
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – Will No.3 Novak Djokovic beat No.2 Roger Federer for the second time as the two face in a battle at the semi-finals at Australian Open Thursday? All eyes are on the two as they expect to meet in the ‘rematch’ this year.
Djokovic cruised to the final four after defeating sixth seed Tomas Berdych to a 6-1 7-6 (7-5) 6-1 victory at the Aussie Open.
Djokovic is clearly now set his eyes on Federer, who, according to Sportal, asserted in an interview after the fight with Berdych, that he can cause an upset against the Swiss ace.
The first Serbian player to bring Grand Slam singles title was defeated by Federer thirteen out of 19 matches at Melbourne Park. But his confidence sprang from the epic five-set triumph in the 2010 US Open semi-finals last year.
"In New York I think I played a great match against him. He's very aggressive player, maybe the most aggressive there is on the tour. You have to be patient. Again, put some varieties and get him out of comfort zone," Djokovic said in an interview, according to Sportal.
The bronze medalist at the 2008 Olympic Games vowed to give Federer the ‘nothing to lose’ attitude in their next battle.
“I have nothing to lose playing Federer, who’s the title defender here. We all know everything about him. I have to believe in myself in order to win that match,” the 24-year old ace was quoted as saying by the Sportal.
Recognizing that fellow players Federer and Rafael Nadal of Spain are the recognized top two players in the world, but he was quick to point out that he has plans to cause the upset against the second world title defender.
