Hollywood prepares for the 65th annual primetime Emmy Awards this weekend and everyone is busy with the guessing game of who wins and who loses. But the jury is also faced with another task aside from judging - an equally important issue: how to remember Glee star Cory Monteith.

Each year, as with the Oscars, Grammys, the "in memoriam" segment at the Emmy's are eulogises those we have lost in the preceding year. A number of individual eulogies will be made at this year's ceremony and the jury has selected five people as the beneficiaries of that honour: actors James Gandolfini, Jean Stapleton, Jonathan Winters and Monteith, and writer/producer Gary David Goldberg.

Emmy has chosen Jane Lynch to deliver the eulogy for Cory Monteith. However, not everyone is convinced about the decision because all other television stars have much more experience than the Glee star Monteith and this has triggered an argument.

According to Andrew Wallenstein, editor -in-chief of Variety, the popular Hollywood trade newspaper, Monteith has failed to receive any Emmy nomination prior to his death in July and he says that one can never compare the work of the Glee star to that of Gandolfini.

"What Gandolfini did on 'The Sopranos' inarguably transformed the medium of television; can we really say the same about Monteith on Glee?" Wallenstein writes in an editorial of the magazine.

He has problem keeping the Glee star on the same platform as other actors and says Monteith does not have a work career to keep him ahead of his peers.

"The actor should have a body of work that puts him head and shoulders above his peers," Wallenstein says. He also questions the timelessness of the Monteith eulogy and argues that his eulogy will have no significance two decades from now when one will watch the 2013's Emmy's.

"The event should be first and foremost about recognizing a body of work. In that respect, the Emmys needs to aspire to timelessness, demonstrating its relevancy whether being watched on the night of the telecast or 20 years later," he adds.
