Recently, Boxer Nonito Donaire Jr. and beauty queen Ariella Arida's accomplishments brought some beam to the Filipino people who have been suffering from the blitz of Typhoon Yolanda.

Nonito Donaire, the Filipino four-division world champion, remained one of boxing's foremost fighters and an HBO attraction on Saturday night's Featherweight grudge match with long-time challenger Vic Darchinyan. After winning the match, Donaire revealed that it was a hard earned victory and a tough fight.

"Vic was very tough," "He hit me hard and it felt like he broke my cheek. I thought I was going to lose tonight, but I continued fighting and found an opportunity to land a big shot." admitted Nonito Donaire Jr.

"I'm going to go with your boy, Max," "Rigondeaux...I'll fight Rigondeaux." Answered the Filipino flash with the consensus choice when questioned by HBO color commentator Max Kellerman (who he wished to fight next)

Donaire dedicated his victory to his countrymen still struggling for survival after the massive devastation brought by an earthquake and typhoon Yolanda.

"It wasn't my win tonight, it was the Philippines win. We are strong and we have faith. Thank you Lord for keeping me safe, giving me a sound mind, helping me see what needed to be done. Thank you to the archangels and especially all the fans and Filipinos who watched despite the typhoon," he posted on Facebook.
