‘Downton Abbey’ Season 5 Episode 3 Spoilers: Violet Saves The Day For Mary
The Season 5 of the British period drama "Downton Abbey" is exploring the winds of change. This change is not just restricted to the political atmosphere of 1924, with the Labour government in power. The change can also be seen in the introduction of the wireless radio and Sarah Bunting coming to tutor Daisy in Mr Carson's study. Mary agreeing to Lord Gillingham's suggestion of a romantic getaway and she asking Anna to buy contraception for her are also a part of 'Downton catching up with the times' narrative.
The episode 2 of "Downton Abbey" Season 5 saw Mary meeting Lord Gillingham in a hotel room and love-making was part of their plan for the night. The synopsis of episode 3 reveals that when Mary returns, her "secret assignation is nearly blown." This is likely to happen because Mary may return without sketches. She had told her family that she was going on a sketching trip with a female friend. And, it is Violet's quick thinking that will come to the rescue and save the day, according to the synopsis. The episode 3 is expected to reveal some secrets of Violet's past. The synopsis says, "... a figure from Violet's distant past suggests she has buried secrets of her own."
The last few moments of episode 2 saw the return of valet Green's ghost. A policeman arrived to ask questions related to the dead rapist, as a witness has surfaced. He told Mr Carson that "We've a witness." The identity of this witness has not been revealed. The episode 3 will show more people, including Anna and Bates, becoming aware about police asking questions about Green. According to the synopsis, "the events surrounding Green's death are once again under scrutiny."
Also in episode 3, Robert will be left red-faced as things won't go according to his plan. He is going to be furious, the synopsis reveals. Mrs Patmore, who in the last episode asked Ms Bunting to tutor Daisy, is going to have her emotional moment, as her old wounds are going to be re-opened. But, Mr Carson will "remain unsympathetic," according to the synopsis of the episode.
Meanwhile, Branson will be receiving an interesting proposition. This proposition is regarding the Downton estate's future, according to the official synopsis of episode 3 of "Downton Abbey."
