‘Downton Abbey’ Season 6: Hit or Miss?

"Downton Abbey" is back with its final season that premiered on Jan. 3 on PBS in the United States. The avid followers and binge-watchers of the show certainly have high hopes from this season and the stars as well as the makers of the show have come up with an interesting ending for the Crawley family's saga.

"I think what [creator Julian Fellowes] has done is given the audience a chance to say goodbye to every one of their favorite characters, they all have a little moment and you can see where their life is going to take them," E News quoted Elizabeth McGovern who portrays the role of Lady Cora in the show.

The pretty actress believes that viewers will be satisfied with the ending of the show. While the actress appeared confident about the final season of the show, Jim Carter visibly had certain qualms regarding the ending of the show.

"We don't all get blown up in a gas explosion or get abducted by aliens or anything like that, but the stories are tied up rather elegantly and we sort of wave goodbye to these characters everybody has grown so fond of in a satisfying way," Carter revealed while giving an insight about the plot of the finale season.

The finale was a huge hit in the United Kingdom as its Christmas special episode had a viewership of whopping 6.6 million. The final episode gave a last chance to the fans to see the Crawleys on screen.

However, the fans of the series based in the stateside can enjoy the sixth and final season of “Downton Abbey” as the show premiered on Jan. 3 on PBS in the US and will go on to entertain the viewers till March 6.

Set in the backdrop of the early 20th-century the script of “Downton Abbey” revolves around the residents of English manor. Helmed by Brian Percival, Ben Bolt, Brian Kelly, Andy Goddard, James Strong and Ashley Pearce, the show stars Hugh Bonneville, Jessica Brown Findlay and Jim Carter in lead roles. Sadly, the makers of the show have ruled out the possibility of “Downton Abbey” Season 7.
