Deputy PM Swan flies to Canada today
With the sudden change in leadership, Australia's representative to the G20 meeting this weekend is Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan.
Mr. Swan will fly to Canada on Friday for the G20 Summit of world leaders a, replacing former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, who resigned and was replaced by Julia Gillard on Thursday.
Mr. Swan, who is also treasurer, said he was well across the issues, despite the last minute notice.
"I've attended all G20 meetings with the... former prime minister and I were most recently at the finance ministers' meeting in Korea," he told ABC Radio on Friday.
He noted that he is quite familiar with all the issues and with the other leaders in the meeting.
The G20 meeting will discuss the status of financial regulation and the current situation pertaining to global economic matters.
