Dr Who Legendary Star Peter Davison To Host DW Symphonic Spectacular In Australia 'Like the Oscars' [WATCH]
Dr Who Star Peter Davison is coming to town. The actor for the legendary role is set to host Dr Who Symphonic Spectacular as he promises to grace the show like they do at The Oscars.
The former DW star will head to Brisbane on Feb. 8 for the opening of the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular in collaboration with Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
Speaking to Brisbane Times, the legendary fifth Dr Who star said he could never be more excited to be in Queensland for the tour. The star of the former hit show will be hosting the event early next year hinting that the job will be like they do in The Oscars.
"I'm hosting the show, introducing it, introducing various bits," Davison was quoted as telling Brisbane Times.
"So I'll be popping on a bit like the man does when they host the Oscars, cracking the odd joke or two, and introducing the next bit.”
He said he is looking forward to hearing “full orchestra playing some music.”
"I'm excited about it because I love the idea of getting people into a big stadium to hear a full orchestra playing music - there's something very special about that," he added.
The Brisbane Times also noted that the Davison admitted being more excited to be in Brisbane, saying the city is the home for one of his most popular companions, Tegan Jovanka, and an actress who represented her character, Janet Fielding. Davison reiterated that he is still in close communication with Fielding through email.
"Janet is the person who keeps my feet on the ground, along with my children," Davison told Brisbane Times as he described his relationship with the actress, before adding, "In the last email, I asked her to give me some tips about Brisbane because I'm coming out to do a job, and she sent me an email back saying 'nobody loves ya'.
This is not Davison’s first time in Brisbane, he added. But the fifth Dr Who actor emphasized he wanted to spend more time in the city during his next visit.
Davison said, "I think she's out there now actually, home for Christmas. She always tells me I should visit Brisbane – I did briefly for one day last April, but that was the only time I was there – but I'm looking forward to spending a bit more time there because it's one major city in Australia I haven't really spent very much time in at all."
Davison played the role of the Doctor from 1981 to 1984 but he also pointed out in the interview that one never really left the role even if he no longer appears in the small screen.
