Even if the recent news of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' scoring low in the box office unexpectedly, Sony has decided to still pursue the sequel of the film.

A representative from Sony mentioned in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the second 'Dragon Tattoo' project will still do business; and that their plans with regards to the development of its next story have not changed. The very thing that saved the entire project was its increase in sales last weekend from $12.7 million to about $14.8 million.

Just like what others say about it, time is what it needs to hit it big in the box office. It just so happened that Christmas was not the right time to release it since no family would want to bring their kids to a movie that has a lot of violence to show.

Up to the latter parts of January, the film would be able to get ahead in time of the list of movies shown. Before the movie was even officially released, both its lead stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara confirmed their saying yes to any of its possible sequels. It was director David Fincher though who was a little hesitant to still work on its sequels.

In an overall rate, its final success in numbers is still yet to be known especially since it has not been shown yet to other parts of the world. But so far, it's $72 million in general that it has achieved in sales.
