Hiphop singer Drake will be having an environmental-awareness gig in Washington, D.C. as a protest on British Petroleum for the oil spill it has caused in the Gulf of Mexico.

Like many Americans, he is appalled by the news coverage of the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history.

Drake, who uses biodegradable materials on his bus and backstage at his concerts, has also worked with Green The Block and The Hip-Hop Caucus in a performance at the Stop The Off Shore Drilling rally in Washington on Sunday.

The rapper wishes that he will be able to urge his fans to follow his lead and go for a greener lifestyle.

"Every where you turn, pollution and poverty are hurting our communities. We can change that. Going green is the solution. I'm green on my tour, I am greenin' block and you can too. It's easier than you think," he said.

Meanwhile, Drake's full-length debut "Thank Me Later" will hit the stores on Tuesday, June 15th.
