Drake's 'Views' has an 'explosive' first week; Rihanna teams up with renowned shoe-maker to create denim shoes
Drake’s new album “Views” topped the charts in its first week after release. The album has given the popular singer his best week in terms of sales. The success of the album has put the singer on top and no other singer had a bigger sale week in the past three years.
“Views” has debuted as the number one album at the Billboard 200 chart. The chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the US. The ranking is based on multi-metric consumption that includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums and streaming equivalent albums.
The album has already earned 1.04 million equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music as on May 5 in the US. Of the total sales the traditional album sales amounted to 852,000 copies. The sales week is the biggest for any male singer in the past three years.
Despite the impressive sales figures, Drake was unable to surpass Justin Timberlake’s numbers. Timberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience” sold 968,000 copies in the first week of release ending on March 24, 2013.
In the Billboard ranking, Rihanna’s album “Anti” continues to remain stable at number five. Apart from her singing career, she continues to develop new fashion accessories. She has now teamed up with renowned shoe-maker Manolo Blahnik to create denim shoes for women, Honey.ninemsn reports.
The Denim Desserts range, as the name suggests, is made of denim. The range includes shoes that reach the hip and high ankle boots. Jennifer Lopez was impressed by the hip length shoes so much that she can be seen wearing it in the official video of her new song “Ain’t Your Mama.”
The shoes Lopez wore in her video was apparently a gift from Rihanna, with a hand written note that read that the “Ain’t Your Mama” singer can wear it better. Lopez thanked her friend for the gift on social media.
