Dress code at Princess Eugenie’s wedding will be stricter than Harry-Meghan’s
Princess Eugenie’s wedding will reportedly be bigger than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s. There is also one thing that will set it apart from the Sussexes: It will have a stricter dress code.
When Harry and Meghan wed in May, the women were required to wear day dresses and hats or fascinators as it was the tradition, while the men were allowed to wear military uniforms and lounge wear in addition to their option of morning coats.
The traditional outfit for men is morning coats, but Harry and Meghan, as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton when they were wed in 2011, added options of military uniforms and lounge suits, which was probably added for the American guests who may not be familiar with British tradition, according to Express.
Eugenie’s wedding to fiancé Jack Brooksbank doesn’t have that option for men, though. As Jack had not serve in the military like Harry and William had, he will be wearing a suit, and the guests are also expected to do the same.
The requirement is considered more formal and stricter than the dress codes at Eugenie’s cousins. The dress code for women remains the same, though.
Eugenie, who is ninth in line to the British throne, will reportedly have bigger wedding than Harry and Meghan’s. According to the Mail on Sunday, she sent out more than 850 invitations for her lavish wedding on Oct. 12, which will be followed with a reception and a two-day party. Eugenie and Jack will be married at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, the same venue where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wed. There will also be an additional 1,200 members of the public allowed into the castle grounds to see the arrivals and departures of the guests.
Their wedding will reportedly cost taxpayers close to £2 million (AU$3.64 million) for the security. Her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, is said to be covering the cost of the reception, while her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, are paying for the two-day wedding party at Royal Lodge.
