Whip It star Drew Barrymore has found a new hobby in boxing.

The Hollywood actress, who tried her hand in the ring in an effort to get fit, realised that she really enjoyed the sport.

"I went to a boxing class because I needed the exercise but I'm not athletic and really uncoordinated and lame," said Drew. "But I found it so much fun.

"I had never boxed before but I was beating the crap out of the bag. I was so into it."

Drew, who shot to fame after starring in Steven Spielberg's E.T., recently admitted she has had "normal jobs" despite being well-recognised at a young age.

"I've been acting since I was 11-months old but I have had normal jobs too," she said.

"I worked at a coffee house and I was terrible. And I mean, really terrible. My boss just hated me. I could see the resentment in his eyes every day. I was 14.

"I also worked at a Music Plus (store). I rocked at that job because I love movies and so anyone would come in and have just a vague idea of anything and I was like 'I got it! I'm on it!' I loved that job."
