‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Phil Robertson’s New Anti-Gay Comments Surface: Gibes at Media, Defends his Comments on Homosexuality [Watch YouTube Video]
"Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson made a fiery speech and defended his comments on homosexuality in an Easter Sunday sermon at a church. He was suspended from the show after he made homophobic remarks in the December issue of "GQ." The video of Phil's sermon was uploaded on YouTube and it went viral.
According to Daily News, Phil Robertson spoke at Whites Ferry Road Church in West Monroe, LA. He not only refused to back down on what he believes but also criticised the media coverage.
"They were mad at me," says Phil in the video.
"You say, 'Why'd they get mad at you?' 'Cause instead of acknowledging their sin, like you had better do, they railed against me for giving them the truth about their sins. Don't deceive yourselves."
The "Duck Dynasty" star also paraphrased the Corinthians verse.
"Neither the sexually immoral, nor the idolators, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves, nor greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God," said the star as the audience applauded.
Phil slammed the media for not knowing the verse and believing that he was just mouthing off.
Daily News noted that Phil's comments surfaced weeks before the "Duck Dynasty" Season 6 premiere on June 11. The reality show was quite popular and drew 12 million viewers. However, after Phil's interview the show lost close to half its viewers.
A&E suspended Phil Robertson indefinitely by A&E after he ranted about homosexuality in the "GQ" interview.
"We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series 'Duck Dynasty'," read a statement released by the rep for A&E, reported by TMZ.
