Duke of Malborough Dies In His Sleep: He Ranked 224th In The Sunday Times Rich List
Princess Diana's relative, the Duke of Malborough recently passed away at the age of 88. He died peacefully in his sleep. The title of Duke has been passed on to his 58-year-old son Jamie, Marquess of Blandford.
Jamie is known to be waging a battle with drugs, according to the reports by Express. He has reportedly been in the public eye for his addiction to Herion and Cocaine. The final tribute of Duke of Malborough, whose real name was John George Vanderbilt Henry Spencer-Churchill death was led by Prime Minister David Cameron.
"With great sadness, we announce that the 11th Duke of Marlborough passed away peacefully this morning. Further announcements will be made in due course," the palace spokesperson said post Duke John's death adding that the palace would be open today for people's visit according to Telegraph.
It is still not known whether Jamie would inherit the palace estate, which is worth around £100 million as he reportedly did not enjoy warm relations with his father. According to the website from the year 1980 to 1990 his father branded him a "black sheep." However, there relationship got better with time.
Jamie fought his battle with drugs and repaired his fractured relations with his father, according to the further reports. The 11th Duke in a Channel 4 documentary titled as "Aristrocats," said in his documentary that he is fully confident of Jamie as he thinks he would be able to keep this place going. He further said that trustees would help him as Blenheim is going to be a very important part of the family's history and Jamie would ensure that it stays for the future generations.
Duke of Malborough's principal seat was Blenheim Palace, in Woodstock, Oxfordshire and he ranked 224th in the Sunday Times Rich List 2004. Post his death, Mr. Cameron said that he is deeply saddened by his death and his thoughts and prayers are with his family.
