Hollywood’s go-to action star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, was named the world’s top-earning actor due to his staple role in the box office “Fast and Furious” franchise, among his other films last year.

According to Forbes, the “San Andreas” lead star who earned US$64.5 million pre-tax between June 2015 to June 2016 is playing a lead role in the upcoming “Baywatch” remake.

Johnson out-earned Chinese martial artist Jackie Chan, who also ranked second in the 2015 list of top-earning actors. This year, China’s box office king raked in US$61 million mostly for his producing Chinese films but Chan is set to make a comeback on the international silver screen with his upcoming sci-fi thriller “Bleeding Steel.”

The world’s No. 3 highest paid actor, Matt Damon, earned handsomely for his starring role in “The Martian” for which he was nominated for an Oscar Award. The “Jason Bourne” star registered a US$55 million earning during the latest scoring period. He played a lead role in the upcoming controversial firm “The Great Wall.”

Action star Tom Cruise ranked fourth with a US$53 million pre-tax earning mainly for his role as agent Ethan Hunt on the 2015 film “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.” The “Jack Reacher” star is currently filming “The Mummy” in Namibia.

Meanwhile, newly divorced actor Johnny Depp landed on the fifth spot with a US$48 million pre-tax earning from the latest “Pirates of the Caribbean” installment and the box office movie “Alice through the Looking Glass.” The multi-awarded “Edward Scissorhands” star earlier agreed to a US$7 million divorce settlement with his then-wife Amber Heard.

Hollywood’s highest paid woman, Jennifer Lawrence, ranked sixth on the overall top-earning actors list with a US$46 million pre-tax haul. Considered as the youngest among the top 10 highest paid actors, the 26-year-old actress known for playing Katniss Everdeen earned hefty fees for the final “Hunger Games” installment.

Ben Affleck secured the seventh spot on the list with US$43 million pre-tax earning, majority of which came from his box office mobile “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

Meanwhile, Vin Diesel dropped to the eight spot from his third rank in 2015 with US$35 million pre-tax earnings this year. The “Fast and Furious” star played lead roles on the upcoming 2017 films “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage,” “Fast 8” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

American comedian Melissa McCarthy and Indian box office star Shah Rukh Khan were tied on the 10th place for both garnering US$33 million. While McCarthy took home handsome pay check from the “Ghostbusters” remake and the 2015 film “Spy,” Khan made it to the list for his lead role in hit movie “Diwale.”
