‘DWTS’ star Bindi Irwin celebrates her first real Halloween outside Australia
“Dancing with the Stars” ("DWTS") Season 21 contestant Bindi Irwin, 17, is celebrating her first Halloween in the United States. She was recently with her professional partner, Derek Hough, 30, rehearsing their group dance to the “Ghostbusters” theme song.
During the rehearsal, Irwin told E News, “This is my first real Halloween because we really don't celebrate Halloween in Australia, so it's really exciting. I'm a little bit nervous because I don't do well with scary movies or being scared in general.”
Irwin said that on the actual night of Halloween, she may just stay at home with her family “drinking tea and locking the doors.” On “DWTS” Season 21 Halloween Night on Monday, she and Hough performed an Argentine tango with Gerard McMann’s “Cry Little Sister” as their background.
Aside from “DWTS” Season 21, Irwin and Hough will be in “2015 Hero Dog Awards,” which was directed by Joe DeMaio and written by Paul Flattery and Jon Macks. Along with Irwin and Hough, “2015 Hero Dog Awards” features Lacey Chabert, Pauley Perrett, Lea Thompson, Danica McKellar and Alicia Witt as presenters.
Irwin has appeared in several TV series including “My Babysitter’s a Vampire,” “Curious George” and “The Project.” In 2013, she starred in the adventure fantasy film “Return to Nim’s Island” with Toby Wallace, John Walters, Matthew Lillard, Jack Pearson, Sebastian Gregory, Nathan Derrick and Chris Haywood, among others.
Prior to “DWTS” Season 21 Halloween Night, Irwin went out with her boyfriend Chandler Powell, who is from Florida, and the couple wore matching khaki sneakers. Irwin paired her sneakers with a black shirt with an image of an elephant on the front and three-quarter-length spandex pants, while her boyfriend was casually dressed in a grey shirt and black cargo trousers.
Irwin and Powell were seen holding hands as they made their way to their car. The “DWTS” Season 21 contestant’s mother Terri Irwin, 51, was also spotted following them.
