Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” is an early winner for this year’s newest category, Best Video With a Message. She defeated Eminem with Rihanna for "Love the Way You Lie"; Katy Perry for "Firework"; "F****** Perfect"; Rise Against for "Make it Stop (September's Children)"; and Taylor Swift for "Mean."

"I'm really proud of the 'Born This Way' video, and for it to be nominated is an absolute honor," Gaga was quoted as saying by MTV News.

Other early big winners include Beyonce for Best Choreography and Adele, who take home three big professional awards .
