Briony McRoberts, actress and wife of Downton Abbey actor David Robb, died after being hit by a Tube train. Her body was found Wednesday morning, July 17, at the Fulham Broadway station near her West London home. She was 56.
The former EastEnders actress’ death was confirmed Saturday, with police saying her death is not beng treated as suspicious.
No other detail regarding her death emerged, but it is believed that it was a suicide case.
The driver of the train will be offered counselling, according to the Mirror.
“It’s just a terrible, terrible loss of a wonderful woman. Nobody had any idea it was going to happen. Her husband is deeply shocked,” her agent Katie Threlfall said, calling the English actress “vibrant.”
“She was a wonderful woman who had troubles and she will be very much missed. She was so –well-loved and was the most vibrant character you could hope to meet. It is just a tragedy.”
Ms McRoberts was best known for her role in the Scottish soap Take the High Road from 1990 to 1999. She also appeared in The Professionals, The Bill, and Taggard.
Mr Robb, who plays Dr Clarkson in the hit drama Downton Abbey, has not yet released a statement regarding his wife’s passing.
