Ed Sheeran Offers Noel Gallager Tickets to His Wembley Shows After The Oasis Star Dissed Him
Ed Sheeran has made peace with Noel Gallagher after he offered the Oasis star tickets to his sold-out Wembley concerts, the very same shows that the older rocker scoffed at.
In an interview with NME, Gallagher said he found it aggravating that the 23-year-old “Thinking Out Loud” crooner is set to play at the largest stadium in the UK. “I don’t think I can live in a world where that’s even possible. When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there’s a ginger guy with a f****** guitar it seems subversive, but it’s f****** not,” he said.
That ginger guy with a guitar was Sheeran, who not only has a sold-out show in the stadium, but has also added two more shows in the venue for his July concerts. Sheeran was fine with Gallagher’s apparent diss, though.
“i can live in it, its really enjoyable,” (sic) he tweeted. He clearly was having fun with Gallagher’s assessment of him, but that’s not all that he did. He even had the audacity to taunt the 47-year-old rocker, but it’s all in good jest.
He told the Daily Star that upon reading Gallagher’s comments about him, he texted him and asked if he’d like some tickets to his shows. “He wrote back, ‘You cheeky so and so. My daughter would love some.’”
He did not elaborate what “so and so” meant, but it’s assumed Gallagher had some choice words for him, although this time they weren’t as spiteful as the first ones. And Sheeran knew that. He said he always sees Gallagher as an outspoken guy so he wasn’t offended. In fact, he found it “quite cool” to be mentioned in his interview.
And besides, getting insults from others is healthy sometimes as it keeps his ego in check. “I get a lot of stock from Press and people, but it’s good to get stick. That’s why Americans go off the rails. Ego wise you are risen and risen and rise. Your ego grows,” he told Radio 2.
Sheeran, who is nominated for three Grammy Awards for the year, will be playing for three nights at the Wembley Stadium from July 10 to 12. The two later shows were only added due to popular demand.
