Eddie Murphy Graces Rolling Stone Magazine with His Presence
50-year old comedian Eddie Murphy rarely does interviews yet he agrees to do so with Rolling Stone magazine.
In the interview, he talks about the ups and downs of his long illustrious career, his plans of hosting the Oscar's, his possible return to stand up and his upcoming film Tower Heist.
Murphy also mentioned that his days of making family oriented films may be over because he doesn't have any in doing so at the moment. He would rather do edgier projects and do what he really wants to do, otherwise he says he's comfortable with staying at home and content with just playing his guitar all day.
There was talk of him starring in Beverly Hills Cop IV but he declined to be in it so there's no way that the studio's are going to push with the movie. But, Murphy is thinking of producing a television show centered on Axel Foley's son where Axel is the present chief of police of Detroit city.
Murphy has also refused to participate in retrospective episodes of the show and hasn't been for many years.
There are rumors that Murphy stormed out of the Oscar's after losing the best supporting actor role to fellow comedian Alan Arkin. He sheds some light into this situation and said that he did not storm off and he was completely cool about the situation because Alan had been acting for years on end and rightfully deserved the award.
He is currently considering getting back in to stand-up comedy which he hasn't done since the 1980's.
"If I ever get back onstage, I'm going to have a really great show for you all," he says.
"An hour and a half of stand-up and about 40 minutes of my band... But I haven't done it since I was 27, so why mess with it? But that's just weighing both sides. It comes up too much for me to not do it again. It's like, when it hits me, I'll do it, eventually." added the actor in the same interview
