‘The Elder Scrolls Online’ & Morrowind expansion update: New milestone, battlegrounds mode & more; Botting problem revealed
“The Elder Scrolls Online” director Matt Firor has revealed that the game has surpassed 8.5 million copies. The massively multiplayer online role-playing video game, developed by ZeniMax Online Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, has registered the figure on the basis of copies sold and not just registered accounts. As of June 2016, the game had seven million players. Thus, it has added 1.5 million more in less than a year, which is quite an impressive achievement.
According to a report by MMORPG, Firor stated that “The Elder Scrolls Online” players are evenly split across all the platforms the game is available on, such as, Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Bethesda has also released a gameplay trailer for the game’s Morrowind expansion (video shared below). The video shows how the island of Vvardenfell looks. Existing players will be able to travel immediately to Vvardenfell and enjoy new content as soon as the expansion is launched. Newly-joined players can choose and create fresh characters on Vvardenfell, without the need to complete previous ESO content, reported GameSpot.
“The Elder Scrolls Online” “Morrowind” expansion will have the first new class called The Warden, who will also be supported by the war bear, new combat ally. The Warden will use a combination of nature-based magic and melee weapons. The expansion will also include the new battlegrounds mode that will have teams fighting against each other in an arena-type setting. This mode will be especially liked by those who prefer player-vs-player combat. The expansion will be released on June 6.
Meanwhile, a report by Kotaku states that “The Elder Scrolls Online” has a botting problem. Players are using this glitch to level-up their characters, without even using the keyboard. The image shared on the report shows characters doing battle with absolutely nothing. Enemies are spawning and the players are getting credit for killing them. This issue needs to be addressed immediately as the practice is unfair and also annoying for those using less capable weapons. This is botting as players are using external means to play the game. They are not even involved.
“Holding down the button assigned to ‘heavy attack’ causes an equipped staff to send forth an endless stream of magical bolts. So these players find a safe spot where monsters spawn regularly, like the Lluvamir Dolmen in Auridon, and then either set up a macro or use a rubber band to keep their controller button held down,” the report states.
