British model and "Gossip Girl" actress Elizabeth Hurley and spin bowler Shane Warne have announced their engagement over Twitter.

The actress tweeted, "Thanks for all your congratulations." Hurley also posted a picture with her post.

Warne proposed over dinner at the Old Course Hotel in St. Andrews, Scotland, in front of VIP guests.

Hurley supposedly was unaware Warne was about to propose as they posed for the camera just before. She was wearing a strapless nude bandage dress and smoky eye makeup while the retired Australian cricketer wore a sharp suit and purple tie.

The engagement ring is a huge, square sapphire with triangular diamonds on each shoulder. The ring looks at home at Hurley's left hand.

The two started dating last December. Hurley has a son from her former relationship with producer Steve Bing.

Warne was divorced from his wife of 10 years in 2006. Liz Hurley got separated from her husband, textile heir Arun Nayar, and was divorced last June.
