Ellen DeGeneres Brings Show to Australia
Ellen DeGeneres is Australia bound! The Hollywood talk show chatterbox, Ellen, who has a fan base even in the Asia-PAcific, is bringing her light and easy banter Down Under like contemporary Oprah last year.
"I am partnering with SWISSE and I love it because they're an Australian company and they want to help me get to Australia," DeGeneres told an excited audience while taping on Friday.
"So, I am actually for the first time in my life going to Australia. I'm going in March and I'm going to shoot a bunch of stuff in Melbourne and Sydney. We're going to do tape pieces and meet the fans and hang out."
It was clarified however that the host will not film live episodes in front of an audience but only conduct tape features and interviews, which will later be played on her program.
Qantas will co-sponsor Ms DeGeneres' trip with Swisse, an Australian vitamin company, that launches into the United States as well.
Ms DeGeneres announced the trip on her show with fellow Swisse "global ambassador" and actress Nicole Kidman.
Despite being married to Australian actress Portia DeRossi, the impending Australian March visit is a first for Ms DeGeneres.
"Long before I met Portia, I've wanted to go to Australia, and since my birthday is on Australia Day (January 26) I'd like to give you all a special birthday gift," Ms DeGeneres told the audience, who immediately went wild with excitement and frenzy. Each guest will receive a 6-night stay in a 4-star hotel while in Australia, including return flights to either Sydney or Melbourne.
"There is no doubt bringing Ellen to Australia and signing Australia's own Nicole Kidman as the global face of our brand will go down in history as watershed moments for our company. It is a benchmark way to launch our brand globally," Radek Sali, Swisse Wellness CEO, said.
"Ellen represents our healthy and happy culture and celebrates life every day - key pillars of our wonderful Australian company," he said.
