Ellen DeGeneres Creates History by Winning People’s Choice Award for 14th Time
It is proven once again that people love Ellen DeGeneres. They really do. Ellen won the People's Choice Award for 14th time creating an all-time record.
Ellen has transitioned from being a stand-up comedian to becoming an iconic face on television. She has become one of the most established talk show hosts ever. Her comic timing was at her best when she received the award. Her acceptance speech had the audience laughing.
She exclaimed her joy of winning People's Choice Awards for the 14th time. She humorously commented that, as a girl growing up in New Orleans, 12 awards sounded ok, even 13 awards. However, receiving 14 awards was "incredible". She added that she would treasure the award as the award was given by the people. There is nothing better than to realise that she is a reason people are happy, she added.
She continued mentioning that she had equally enjoyed having both celebrities and regular people on the show. She wished to make a show for everyone, without discriminating according to gender, age, colour or sexual orientation. She gave an example how she became successful in attracting people toward her show.
She informed that she had met a "lovely" Afro-American woman the other day, who told her that she had to work 80 hours every week. Still, she looks forward to coming back home only to watch Ellen's show every night. Then, she mentioned the name of the woman: Oprah Winfrey. Ellen mentioned that she thought she was doing something right and thanked everyone for the award.
Ellen left behind Rachael Ray, Dr Phil McGraw, Steve Harvey, and Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan to win her latest award. Ellen won her first People's Choice Award for "Ellen", the sitcom on ABC, in 1995.
The People's Choice Award ceremony took place in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Jan 8, 2014.
