Portia De Rossi has one very generous wife. Ellen DeGeneres surprised her Australian wife with her dream car, and she caught Portia’s priceless reaction on tape!

On “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” aired in the U.S. on Friday, the titular host revealed her surprise Christmas gift to her wife of five years.

“I do have a good Christmas story. I was proud of myself because this year I wanted to surprise Portia with her gift,” Ellen began. “I got her a car, and that was easy. I had to hide it in the attic, which was not easy.”

Ellen added that Portia was obsessed with the car before showing the audience a picture of an old Toyota Corolla. That wasn’t Portia’s dream car, of course. Ellen was only kidding. She explained that Portia really wanted a Land Rover called the Defender.

“Every time she sees one, she says, ‘I love that truck. It’s so cool,” she said of Portia.

The truck was a limited edition, though, and was hard to find. But for a multi-millionaire like Ellen, almost nothing was hard to find. She had one delivered from Texas and parked at a mall that they were going to that day.

Ellen started filming with her phone just as Portia noticed the vehicle at the parking area.

“She did not think that it was for her, obviously, until she turned around and saw that I was holding the key,” the TV host recounted the moment that she had successfully surprised the 40-year-old “Arrested Development” star.

The video shows Portia admiring the Defender before turning around and realising that Ellen bought the vehicle for her.

“What, are you kidding?” a stunned Portia momentarily lost her smile from shock before replacing it with a permanent one.

Ellen was so enamoured of Portia’s shocked expression that she has had it made into a loop video.

Shelling out around $40,000 for her wife’s Christmas gift doesn’t even dent Ellen’s pocket a bit. The 55-year-old comedienne is reportedly estimated to be worth USD105 million.

Just recently, she has bought the mega mansion The Brody House in Los Angeles for $39,888,000, TMZ reported. She sold her last house for $21 million and bought the 13,511 sq ft estate, which boasts of six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a pool and a pool house, gym, spa, and tennis court.

Ellen and Portia have been married since 2008.
