Known as Daenerys Targaryen in "Game of Thrones", Emilia Clarke rose to fame with the help of the medieval-fantasy series brought about by HBO.

Emilia Clarke's shot to fame started when she was picked to play as Daenerys Targaryen in the series "Game of Thrones" which is based on the book by George R.R. Martin "A Song of Ice and Fire."

To the surprise of many, Emilia was a replacement to fellow English actress Tamzin Merchant after she dropped out of the pilot for reasons unknown. And so, Clarke was given the part of the Targaryen princess which in return will bring her to superstardom.

Emilia Clarke was born in London, England but was raised in Berkshire. Her father was a sound engineer and her mother a businesswoman; she has a brother who is studying politics. She started her career with plays and early commercials. She was given her first television roles in 2009 as Saskia Mayers in an episode of "Doctors" and as Savannah in 2010 movie "Triassic Attack".

At present, her character reoccurs at the succeeding seasons of "Game of Thrones." Her latest achievements include Best Supporting Actress at the EWwy Awards and Breakout Performance at the Scream Awards fror her role as Daenerys.
