Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber's UK performance rumors addressed
"Rap God" rapper Eminem was recently reported to be performing in the United Kingdom with "Thinking Out Loud" singer Ed Sheeran and "Love Yourself" singer Justin Bieber at the opening of a new stadium in Bristol City. Recently, Bristol Sport, which manages the home of Bristol City and Bristol Rugby, addressed the rumour.
The new stadium is the revamped Ashton Gate, which will officially open in 2017. According to Bristol Sport, only rapper and promoter rapper D-Jukes and singer-songwriter Sophia May have been confirmed as performers lined up to officially open the new stadium.
“We've been in discussions with recording artist D-Jukes and Sophia May from USUK Promotions and other major music agents, to bring the biggest names in the music industry to the stadium and further promote the city of Bristol,” Bristol Post quoted Bristol Sport CEO Andrew Billingham as saying. D-Jukes, who is originally from New York but is now based in Bristol, is said to be excited to be part of the upcoming project.
Billingham added that they are looking forward to making Ashton Gate a leading concert venue in the UK. As an international sporting venue, it is natural that they are negotiating with international artists to perform upon the completion of the work transforming the stadium with, which can accommodate 30,000 people.
In a recent interview with Daily Star, the “Thinking Out Loud” singer’s cousin Jethro Sheeran also said that the new stadium has a 30,000-people capacity. He added that Ed has been invited to perform at the opening of the stadium and his cousin wants him to perform a few tracks, as well.
Jethro added that Ed invited Eminem and Bieber to perform with them. He also claimed that the “Rap God” rapper has confirmed and the “Love Yourself” singer’s manager likes the idea.
However, only D-Jukes and May have been confirmed in the lineup and the Bristol Sport CEO apparently did not mention Ed, Eminem and Bieber. Jethro has yet to give a following statement about the upcoming project.
