Eminem’s protégé 50 Cent promotes Effen Vodka in Michigan
Curtis James Jackson III, who is professionally known as 50 Cent, was in a liquor store in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to promote Effen Vodka. The “Power” actor, who is a New York native, is a spokesman for the Dutch brand of vodka.
Police blocked off the parking lot while a crowd of fans waited hours to meet Eminem’s protégé and take photos with him and get his autograph at the Hall Street Party Store on Nov. 25, Wednesday. Only 10 people at a time were allowed in the store.
To take a professional photo with 50 Cent, visitors paid $30 (AU $42) for a bottle of the vodka. Those who wanted to take a selfie with the rapper with their own phone purchased a case of vodka for $180 (AU $250), according to MLive.
WYGR 94.9 FM Radio president Robert Womack told the publication that he worked for almost one year to bring 50 Cent to Grand Rapids in collaboration with Hall Street Party Store. To make the bottle signing party possible, the liquor store invested in purchasing the Dutch brand Effen Vodka.
It was not the first time that 50 Cent visited Grand Rapids. In fact, it was in the city where the rapper filmed “All Things Fall Apart,” “Caught in the Crossfire,” “Gun” and “Setup,” which are all under the Cheetah Vision Films imprint.
Three days after visiting Grand Rapids to promote Effen Vodka, 50 Cent will release his latest mixtape "The Kanan Tape." Previously, he released the track “Too Rich,” which is produced by London On Da Track, as the third single from the mixtape following the release of “9 Shots” and “Body Bags,” according to The Urban Daily.
In 2016, 50 Cent will reprise his role in “Power” Season 3, which he also executive produces. The Starz drama series was created by Courtney Kemp Agboh .
The last film 50 Cent starred in was “Southpaw,” which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams. Eminem also performed “Phenomenal” and “Kings Never Die” featuring Gwen Stefani for the soundtrack of the boxing film directed by Antoine Fuqua.
