A website claimed that they would be releasing Emma Watson's nude pictures. However, according to the reports by Mirror, the reports of Watson's nude photos leak proved to be a hoax as none of the photos were released.

Here we take a look at some of the controversial theories, which led to this hoax.

1. It is being said that the hoax was circulated to shut down the infamous forum 4chan, which leaked photos of Jennifer Lawrence and other celebrities. The website by the name of emmawatsonyouarenext.com was set up, claiming the existence of Watson's allegedly nude photos but instead of them 4chan logo popped up with the hashtag #shutdown4chan.

2. According to Mirror this is a planned marketing strategy by an alleged PR company Rantic to shut down 4chan. The company has a message on the website which says that websites like 4chan which lead to privacy breach should be banned. The letter has been addressed to Barack Obama. However, the existence of this company is still questionable.

If you've heard about the threat towards @EmWatson then I feel you should know it was a stunt to frame 4chan by a company called rantic

3. In another controversy, this is being considered a way to threaten Watson. As a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, Watson recently spoke about gender equality and it is being said that website may have wanted to silence Watson.

The threat to leak nudes of Emma Watson for her speech is a reminder that there are people out there who are abhorrent and revolting

4. There are some users on Reddit who have claimed it to be an online prank. According to the website this is a case of RickRolling prank where the users are directed to video of 80s star Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up as soon as they click on website's link.

Emma Watson's rep is yet to say anything about the controversy. Watson is rose to fame with Hermione in "Harry Potter" series. She recently graduated from Brown University.
