Emma Watson Talks About New Film, ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’
Emma Watson, who rose to fame as Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" films, portrays the subject of an adolescent boy's affections in an upcoming film adaption of the coming-of-age novel, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower."
The trailer of the film, which was recently released online, shows the actress dancing in lingerie during a burlesque show to a song from the "Rocky Horror Picture Show."
"I was very nervous to that stuff," Watson told a cable television channel at the MTV Movie Awards.
"It was tough. I feel like it's the perfect transition from Harry Potter to kind of a more adolescent movie. It's a little bit of an older tone. It's darker," the actress added. Watson also thinks that the "Harry Potter" fans will love her new film because she said that the story has so much heart.
The British young actress also tells MTV News how she mastered the American accent in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." When asked how she was able to do that, Watson thanked her co-stars Ezra Miller and Logan Lerman as her accent tutors.
"These guys were very supportive and they told me when I said things that didn't really sound right. I worked with a coach and I hung out," Watson shared.
MTV News was lucky enough to spend some time with the very likable cast at the "MTV Movie Awards" last Sunday in order to garner some tidbits about the upcoming movie. For instance, this would be the first time for the lovely British actress to speak in an American accent on film.
Based on the novel by Stephen Chbosky, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" follows the story of a high school freshman Charlie, portrayed by Logan Lerman, as he learns to find the way to adolescence with the help of new friends.
However, Chbosky's book is among those that have prompted most complaints to the American Library Association for its approach on drugs, homosexuality, nudity and offensive language. The movie is set to hit theaters everywhere on September 14.
