Emmy Awards 2013: Probable Winners, Nominees and Updates [VIDEOS]
As we all know the Emmy Awards honour the year's best in television in many categories. Let us have sneak peak at this year's Nominees and probable winners.
As of 2013, Netflix has officially joined the broadcast and cable television ranks in the esteemed nomination pool and put that very question in the forefront of viewers' minds. This year, Netflix received 14 nominations, and House of Cards already took home two trophies at last weekend's Creative Arts Emmys.
Netflix will make Emmys history if wins for Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Kevin Spacey), and Outstanding Drama Series (House Of Cards).
While 14 nominations for Netflix are remarkable, HBO's number beats all the other contenders out of the competition. HBO is up for 108 awards, at last year's ceremony HBO won 81 Emmys.
Netflix's magnetic presence in the nominee list has also resulted in hard-hitting competition than usual in the acting categories. With Robin Wright and Kevin Spacey both nominated for their roles on House of Cards, traditional favourites (like Julianna Margulies from The Good Wife) were edged out of competition.
Another big race this year is '30 Rock's' final opportunity to bring home any awards as the series won Best Comedy in 2007, 2008, and 2009 but for the past three years the awards won by Modern Family. The two sitcoms are again in the race this year and are joined in the category by Girls, Veep, Louie, and The Big Bang Theory.
The most nominated show of the evening is 'American Horror Story: Asylum' with 17 nominations which thwarted some of its toughest competition by entering as a mini-series rather than a drama.
So don't forget to tune in on Sunday evening to find out this year's winners and losers.
The award ceremony begins at 8 p.m. and we will be following along with coverage and scoops and much more throughout the evening. See you Sunday!
