This year Emmys announced that they were going to honour few people who have long gone over the past year. The In Memoriam segment of the award show will honour and remember them, and one of the artists included in this In Memoriam segment is "Glee" star Cory Monteith. Most people have welcomed this decision, but there are many who wondered if his short career is enough for him to share the segment with legends like Jean Stapleton and James Gandolfini.

On Wednesday, talking to reporters through a conference call, Emmy producer Ken Ehrlich and CBS executive Jack Sussman supported their decision to include Monteith in the In Memoriam segment.

"It was a rather personal choice, but Cory's appeal was to maybe a little different generation than some of the others we're honoring," Ehlrich told the reporters. "We felt it needed to be represented, that at 31, he passed away under very tragic circumstances. And that it was important to be responsive to younger viewers, to whom Cory Monteith meant as much as perhaps these other four individuals meant to their own generations," he continued, according to E! Online.

Some reporters during the conference call asked them that why stars like Jack Klugman and Larry Hagman are not on the list. Elrich said that it's very difficult to please everybody at the same time.

"No matter what we do, there will be people who feel we could have made other options, and done other things," Elrich added.

The Academy said an In Memoriam segment will be in the Sunday's broadcast to honour stars like Gandolfini, Gary David Goldberg, Jonathan Winter, Stapleton, and Monteith.

"These five individuals brought us such great entertainment and joy, so having their close friends share personal remembrances is something that will be very meaningful for television audiences across the country and across the generations," Elrich said.

He continued: "And, our traditional In Memoriam segment will be presented in a unique new format that will give added importance to an already much anticipated segment of the Emmy show."

According to reports, "Glee" actor Jane Lynch will honour Monteith during the In Memoriam segment of the award show.
