Emraan Hasmi Kissing Scenes to Remain in Films -- Producers
Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi may never be able to completely discard his 'serial kisser' tag as Bollywood producers believe kissing scenes are his lucky charm.
In an interview given to The Times of India, the popular actor said, "I'm not sure if my kissing on screen has anything to do with the success of a film, but producers make sure to put a kissing scene or two. They feel my kissing scenes are my lucky streak."
In the interview, he lamented that trade analysts don't want him to experiment. "Everyone wants to be safe in this industry and whatever works the best, they want to keep or use it as it is," he told The Times of India.
Emraan Hashmi, however, is eager to do different roles and not be stuck in an image. "If I didn't want to change, I don't think I would have done films like Shanghai or The Dirty Picture."
Dibakar Banerjee directed movie Shanghai gave him critical acclaim and his performance was applauded by critics. He underwent complete makeover for the movie and was sporting a paunch and buck-tooth.
Said to be a shy, family man in real life, the actor has kissed almost all his leading ladies onscreen. Emraan Hashmi's first movie Murder, released in 2004, is remembered more for long passing passionate kissing scenes between him and Mallika Sherawat and less for its storyline. Last year, he was in news for his longest kissing scene with Esha Gupta, nearly 20 minute long, in the Bollywood movie Raaz 3.
Emraan Hashmi's new movie Ghanchaakar is slated for a release this Friday. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV Motion Picture, the movie also stars Vidya Balan. He is playing the role of a Maharashtrian man and Vidya Balan is his loud Punjabi wife.
Vidya Balan is highly impressed with Emraam Hasmi's acting and wants to work with him again. "It was exciting to work with Emraan and complete the film and I hope there will be people who want to cast us together in many films," she told Indian media. "I hope the film's director Rajkumar Gupta capitalises on my on-screen chemistry with Emraan and makes another film with him."
Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan first appeared together in The Dirty Picture and there are high expectations from the new release, which is a Bollywood comedy thriller.
"Ghanchakkar is a funny situational comedy, a combination of all the characters will make you jump on the seats in the theatre, Emraan Hashmi told The Times of India.
There is a kissing scene in this movie, too.
