A horrible scene astonished the students and faculty members in Ranchi, Eastern India. This is after an engineering student at Jamshepdur beheaded his girlfriend of Ranchi Women’s College with a ceremonial dagger on Thursday.

Vijendra Kumar, 23, decapitated Khushboo Kumari, with a curved knife called “khukri” as the latter went out the school building with her friends after class.

Kumar was mobbed right after the crime by the spectators who later on brought him to the police.

In an investigation made by the police officers, Kumar revealed that the assault is part of the pact that he and Kumari agreed upon as their parents greatly disapproved their planned marriage.

Kumar told a reporter of The Hundustan Times, "We were in love for the last five years, but our parents did not allow us to unite, so we decided to die together. After killing her, I was about to kill myself when they caught me."

Police spokesman Praveen Singh declared, “We are still not sure if she was in love with him. An inquiry is ongoing. Soon we will come to know the truth.”

Yamini Devi, Kumar's mother, was hysterical when she learned the crime committed by his son.
"We came to know about his affair with Khushboo only two months ago when she ran away from her house and came to us ... to marry my son," she said.

Khushbu's uncle interrupted the interview to beat up Kumar for inciting his niece to run away.
