There is a glimmer of hope in the Stadium of Light as Sunderland AFC, which made it through to the final 16 of the Capital One Cup after a 2-0 win against Peterborough, hosts Liverpool FC in the English Premier League.

Sunderland is the only team that has yet to win a game in the Premier League, and as a consequence, ex-manager Paolo Di Canio was sacked, following their latest 3-0 defeat against West Bromwich Albion on matchday 5.

The Black Cats will rely on their ability to take away the ball from the opposition and create scoring chances therefrom.

Wes Brown (calf) and Phillip Bardsley (foot) will remain on the sidelines because of injuries, while Andrea Dossena (thigh) and Steven Fletcher's (shoulder) participation remains doubtful.

On the other hand, Liverpool is coming from back-to-back losses incurred in the Premier League and League Cup.

The Reds is experiencing a dip in form after their spectacular start to start off the season.

Nevertheless, they still remain at number 5 in the table and will be looking to take advantage of a demoralised Sunderland squad.

Another positive development that the Reds are looking at is the return of prolific striker Luis Suarez after serving his 10-match ban.

Suarez made an immediate impact against Manchester United by creating scoring opportunities, but fell short placing the ball past the keeper.

Suarez has expressed his renewed commitment to Liverpool after the loss at Old Trafford.

"I know it was a difficult moment but for myself and for the team it's very important I'm back because I can help the team and [being] off the pitch I can't. We'll keep going for the week and for the next game," Suarez told liverpoolfc.com.

"All the time I try my best on the pitch. I'm here to help the team and help Liverpool and I'll try my best."
