'Entourage' star Adrien Grenier's new docu focuses on paparazzi
Entourage star Adrien Grenier is now a director with his documentary 'Teenage Paparazzo.'
His directorial debut points the lens at those who point lenses: the much-maligned celebrity photographers. The documentary focuses on a 13-year-old paparazzo named Austin Visschedyk. The project began three years ago when Visschedyk took Grenier's photo while the actor was out on the town. Adrien was intrigued with the young photographer working among older paparazzi. Grenier had a crew follow Visschedyk around as he chased A-listers like Lindsay Lohan who finds the the teenager 'sooo cute.' His youth often allows him better shots with the stars.
As the lead actor in an HBO hit show, Grenier has access to interview Paris Hilton, Whoopi Goldberg, Noam Chomsky, Matt Damon and Alec Baldwin, as well as the notorious Hollywood blogger, Perez Hilton.
"Perez is like everybody else, trying to achieve his American Dream," Grenier says. "He admitted that, he said to me 'I wanna get as rich as possible and retire as young as possible'. It's built into the capitalist mentality: becoming wealthy or achieving fame at the cost of humanity."
Grenier express hope that society moves towards a new age of humanitarianism. He believes that his new documentary generates important discussion and encourages everyone to be part of the discussion. Teenage Paparazzo is showing in the New Zealand Film Festival. It was screened on Melbourne International Film Festival.
The actor is one of the highest paid stars in television along with co-star three-time Emmy winner Jeremy Piven. Adrian reportedly earns $200, 000 per episode of the Entourage according to TV Guide. Piven earns $350,000 per episode.
