"The Equalizer features some gruesomely creative violence, but it's equally memorable for the small, gritty moments set in that diner, or on the rough-and-tumble streets of Boston. And most of all, it's got Denzel going for it," Richard Roeper wrote on Chicago Sun-Times.

Audience Reviews:

"It's a film that takes the concept of a bad ass Denzel Washington to a new, almost Liam Nesson [sic] esque level with its absurdity. It's entertaining, yet emotionally manipulative, clichéd, and rather simplistic," Jeffrey Meyers wrote in a review posted on the Rotten Tomatoes website. Meyers gave "The Equalizer" 3/5 stars.

Meanwhile, Super Reviewer Jeff Boam thinks that Denzel Washington and Chloë Grace Moretz did a good job with the portrayal of their respective roles.
