Author of popular series of Erotic Novel Fifty Shades of Grey, E.L. James, has just made it to the Forbes list for being the highest paid author in the world. James has surpassed the likes of James Patterson, Danielle Steel, Stephen King and with the estimated earnings of $US 95 million in a year.

The adaptation of the film is on its way and the film is expected to hit the screens by next year. Reportedly James has signed a deal of more than 3 million $US for giving film rights to the makers.

James Patterson has always topped the list of richest authors in the world, However, this time he was beaten down by E.L James to second place. Meanwhile, Suzzane Collins of the "Hunger Games" and "The Underland Chronicles" took the third spot. In the last year, Patterson and Collins have earned $US91 million and 4US 55 million respectively.

Collins "Hunger Games" was even adapted into a 2012 blockbuster film by the same title. The film earned $US684 million worldwide.

The author of bestseller novel "Killing Lincoln and Killing Kenndy", Bill O'Riley has come on fourth position with the earnings of $28 million and Dannille Steel took the fifth position with $US 26 million. Steel has written more than 128 books till now and is one of the most renowned literary figure.

Even after having his book 'Inferno', in the bestsellers shelf of 2013, author Dan Brown has been placed on the ninth position . Stephen King is also amongst the top 10 richest author's list with the earnings of $US20 million. Kings novel "Under the Dome" has been adapted into a TV series.
