Eurovision 2011 winners awarded President’s Honorary diploma
In a formal presidential reception held in their honor, Lady Mehriban Aliyeva have reportedly received Ell and Nikki, said News.Az.
The winners of the 2011 Eurovision competition, Eldar Gasimov (Ell) and Nigar Jamal (Nikki) have been awarded the “Honorary Diploma of the President of Azerbaijan Republic”.
In a formal presidential reception held in their honor, Lady Mehriban Aliyeva have reportedly received Ell and Nikki, said News.Az.
Citing the President’s press service reports, News.Az said that executive orders have been issued by Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev for winners, Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal, the winners of Eurovision-2011 song contest, “Honorary Diploma of the President of Azerbaijan Republic.”
Azerbaijan’s President and his First Lady have personally congratulated Ell and Nikki for championing this year’s popular singing competition.
The two won the Eurovision Song Contest after an outstanding performance of their own rendition of “Running Scared”. News.Az noted that this is the first win for Azerbaijan in the competition.
The duo got 221 points in Saturday’s victory, 32 points higher than the second-placed winners from Italy.
