Evander Holyfield clarifies the news about him making comments about Floyd Mayweather fighting with Manny Pacquiao. The retired professional American boxer said that he never made any statements urging the unbeaten American boxer to fight the eight-division Filipino world champion.

According to Ring Observer's Scoop Malinowski, Holyfield shared his thoughts about the long-overdue mega fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao on Facebook. Holyfield allegedly said that Mayweather's legacy in boxing would be questionable if he does not fight with Pacquiao. "Champions accept any fight put in front of them, but if Mayweather does the fight, win or lose, he will be an all time great and a true champion in my book," Holyfield reportedly said in a Facebook post.

However, the said Facebook post cannot be found on Holyfield's official Facebook page. To further shed light on the matter, Holyfield addressed the issue on Twitter and denied commenting on Mayweather and Pacquiao's super fight.

For the record, I have never made any comments about #FloydMayweather fighting @MannyPacquiao whatsoever. This is my verified Twitter acct.

Holyfield is through with boxing. The four-time Heavyweight Champion had not fought since 2011 and made the official announcement about his retirement from the sport of boxing in June 2014. Holyfield has retired with a career record of 44 wins (29 of which were won via technical knockout), 10 losses and two draws. He won his first title in the heavyweight division in 1990, after he defeated James Douglas to win the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) titles.

Holyfield's most famous fights were the ones against Mike Tyson staged in 1996 and 1997. He beat Tyson in the 11th round via technical knockout in their first meeting. In their rematch or also known as the "Bite Fight," Holyfield won via disqualification after Tyson bit Holyfield's ear during the third round.

Ring Magazine has ranked him at the 77th spot in its list of 100 greatest punchers of all time. Some of the accolades he won during his career include World Boxing Association (WBA), IBF and WBC Cruiserweight Champion. He was also the WBC, WBA and IBF Heavyweight Champion. Some of his notable wins include victories over George Foreman, Riddick Bowe, Michael Moorer, John Ruiz and Hasim Rahman.
